Went to the beach today. Absolutely beautiful. Emma has become such a great swimmer, she’s like a fish. I’m hoping that turns into Olympic gold someday or a college scholarship.
While the kids were swimming we saw dolphins swimming close to where we were. So, I got up to tell Emma and to see the dolphins better. As I approached the waves I felt something squish between my toes.
TAR. YUCK!
I can never leave well enough alone, so I reached down to pull it off. Bad idea. Just got tar on my hands. So, the group I was with gave me several suggestions for removing the tar. Courtney suggested mayonnaise, but the other suggestions were caustic, alcohol, acetone, turpentine. Upon our return home I weighed my options and thought, I’m going to try the mayo first. My poor dry feet cringed at the other options, but if the mayo didn’t work that’s what I’d do.
BUT the mayo worked! I couldn’t believe it. So thank you very much Courtney. You are a foot (and hand) saver. A miracle!

David measured Emma today and she is just a couple of centimeters away from 4 feet tall!! She was 20 inches when she was born(almost 2 feet). Also, I took Emma to the doctor yesterday and she weighs in at 49 1/2 pounds. When she born she weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces. She’s squared her weight and height. Well, not EXACTLY, but approximately. I said this to David at lunch after the appointment. He shook his head and said, “nerd.” But that’s HIS job! I guess after 14 years he’s rubbed off on me.

Last week David’s cousin Anna (the amazing cake lady!) came down for a visit. I like hanging out with Anna, she’s just one of the best people I know. Emma and Charlie have great fun together as well. We were able to visit the Skirball for the Noah’s Ark exhibit. What an amazing display. Just about everything can be manipulated or interacted with. Not to mention that the Skirball itself is beautiful, with a fountain and tables outside to bring a picnic lunch. We are planning a return trip in the fall. If you haven’t gone yet, GO!
